Mike put it best "Bad to the bone!". The plane is a great flyer
right out of
the
box. It is fully aerobatic with the stock motor package and a 7.2v battery pack.
After several flights Mike broke the prop (10x8), the only prop we had at the
field was a GWS 11 x 4.7 and so it was used. With the 10x8 prop we were
able to ROG (Rise Off Ground) on a grass field in 8', using the 11x4.7 prop
required about 10' and a clay surface. Take offs were basic and uneventful
Once in the air the Zero climbed like you'd expect a micro fighter to
climb -BRISK. What
we
were all waiting for: nudge the stick to the right and the Zero was
rolling. Excellent response on the roll axis. Snap rolls and barrel rolls
were accomplished easily. The Zero easily looped from level flight and
accomplished outside loops with ease. Mike performed inverted fly-bys
several times at under 10'.
The GWS Zero is a great flyer: nimble, plenty of power and does
aerobatics
with ease. It is not intended as a trainer and we would not recommend it to a
first time flyer. But if you are already flying an aileron equipped gas
plane or you have been accomplished at flying some of the other slow flyer/ Park
flyers and want something a little more exciting this is the plane to try.
Mike Ales is a sales rep at Hobby Central and has been involved in aeromodeling
since the 60's. Although Mike flys both gas and electrics, he has a keen
interest in building, flying and modifying electric planes. Have any
questions feel free to call Hobby Central and speak to Mike or Bill.
This is a mini review written by: Bill McLester. We were having
so
much fun flying this plane that we forgot to annotate some of the details,
so we will add more info to this review as we gain experience with it. If
you have some tips or comments about this plane or the review, email them to me
and I will add them
